Bohemian Charm & Viennese Treats
Marja Gaynor - violin
Ilse de Ziah - cello
David Whitla - double bass

Following the sell-out success of their debut concert in St Peter's "Classical Kids" event, top Cork musicians Marja, Ilse and David are looking forward to pooling their talents again in this charming programme of 18th century trios and divertimentos. The unusual combination of violin, cello and double bass allows each instrument to shine, and the off-the-beaten-track music from Vienna and Prague by composers such as Michael Haydn, Anton Albrechtsberger and Josef Myslivecek is an absolute joy to play and to listen to.

Zoë Nagle, cello

The Vanir Quartet is an exciting young Cork group who will be taking part in the West Cork Chamber Music Festival this summer. Their programme in the Park will include music from Shostakovich’s great second quartet, written in 1944 and infused with a strong flavour of the Klezmer music of the Russian Jewish tradition. They will also play movements from Brahms’ glorious A minor quartet and some contemporary popular favourites.
